Individual ContributorsTo define in simple terms, Negotiation involves two or more people finding a mutually acceptable solution to a shared problem. We use this skill of negotiation everyday, whether personally or professionally, to solve or decide on small and big problems. In an organization, effective negotiation skill demonstrated by all employees is critical for business success and also essential for one’s career advancement. We do not just need to negotiate for commercial agreement but for any work-related decision we need to make along with another internal or external stakeholder.
Whenever we are working with other people, we will need to use our negotiation skills to resolve conflicts, solve problems, collaborate, make decisions, and get a buy-in from others. The diverse need of this skill makes it a critical current and future competency to develop.
Further, effective negotiation is a combination of multiple skills at play. Just one-off strategy will not make any individual an effective negotiator. Strengthscape’s Negotiation Skills – Foundation program are for freshers and individual contributors to teach them the basic principles and techniques of negotiation to apply in quick day to day negotiations in the workplace. For more strategic negotiations which demands the use of complex set of skills, the Advanced Negotiation Skills program is more suitable.
