- Overcome the Need for Perfection – Most people want to make sure that their decisions are right. They see pride in being perfect. Perfectionism is gathering more information than others do, to raise confidence in making a correct decision. Anyone can make good decisions, but the real test is who can act the soonest, being mostly right. For timely decision making, one needs to reduce their requirement for data. Try to decrease these slightly every week till you reach a moderate balance between thinking and acting.
- Avoid Procrastinator – If one has the habit of doing everything at the last minute, this can lead to untimely and poor decisions. Procrastinators fail to hit deadlines and performance targets. Thus, it will be better for them to start earlier. It is always better to leave more time than you think it’s going to take. Plan early data collection and analysis. Don’t wait for the last moment and set a deadline one week before the actual one. Timely decision making will help to function better and complete the tasks at hand.
- Be Organized – If you are unable to complete everything on time and forget deadlines, you must plunge in it yourself. You can’t operate haphazardly and make quality timely decisions.
