Psychometrics tests are a logical way to evaluate people’s behavior and mental abilities. Basically, these assessments are meant to see if a person is good for a particular job based on two core skills: personality and ability. 

These tests measure skills that can’t be seen during a face-to-face interview. Basically, they’re used to select people for hiring and training. These tests will help you make better and more precise decisions when hiring. 


Founded in the early 20th century, it has a long history. In 1905, Alfred Binet was the first person to develop the intelligence test. 


There are two main categories. The first one is aptitude and ability tests and the other one is a personality and aptitude test.

  • Measures the cognitive capacity of a person. These tests have a time limit and there’s just one right answer to each question. 
  • Tests like these define the person’s fluid intelligence, which means his or her ability to think, reason, and solve problems.

  • Behavior has everything to do with how you look at things or how you approach things. These tests follow the five-personality model, which is the Ocean model of openness, conscientiousness, extraversion, agreeableness, and neuroticism. 
  • When we want to understand a candidate’s behavior, whether they’ll perform well in a team, strive for improvement or not be able to cope with criticism, a personality assessment is the way to go. 
  • People take these tests to figure out their behavior, motivations, and thoughts.
